I had a tulip tree that volunteered in my yard in PA several years ago. They grow like wildfire and in just a short time....it was as tall as the house. That tree was one of my real signals that spring had arrived. I LOVED watching how the tiny leaves unfolded already in their perfect signature shape and I photographed them every year. As a matter of fact...my first macro that really took my breath away was of the baby leaves emerging on that tree.
I brought another volunteer here with me. It is trying to get established. It's a little stick about 6 inches tall with one bud and one leaf. But...it's alive! I check it almost every day.
Today I went photo walking in Avalon park near my house and as I was walking....I noticed an unmistakable tiny little leaf. I had been lamenting that I wasn't home to take my annual macro shots of my tulip tree. So, I took this picture, not noticing the itty bitty leaf emerging from the lower left. That was a surprise waiting for me when I got the files on the computer. Spring really is here....

Love that photo! ~~Kath~~
I have never heard of a tulip tree before. Wonder if they would grow in Iowa, if the deer would leave them alone
Beautiful shot! I had a Tulip tree when I lived in Central Florida. I had never seen or heard of one before that. I loved that tree! Yep, spring has arrived! :-)

Does your tulip tree have green and orange flowers on it in the spring? That's the kind we have in Ala.
